The Early November have been one of my favorite bands since high school. I was finally able to see them live on their reunion tour this past June, and all of my 16 year-old dreams were fulfilled. Their latest release, “In Currents,” is hands down one of the best albums I’ve heard in a very long time, and that is including anything by R. Kelly. It’s definitely different from their previous stuff, but not in the bad AFI-What-are-you-doing? kind of way. I especially enjoy the slower songs on this record; the first track, “A Stain on the Carpet” is probably my favorite. I don’t know if it’s because it was released before the whole album, and at the time I was hungry for any new TEN reunion stuff, but it is sure is a good one.
Things this album will compliment nicely:
1. Getting ready before going out. You know, make up, hair… the works.
2. Passing time at work. Infact, an entire day of work listening to this on repeat.
3. Nostalgia, in general. It’s a reunion album!
4. Feeling more adult about your choices. This I can only guarantee while the album is playing.
Billboard.com is still streaming the album in its entirety; I highly recommend giving it a listen!
