Not twenty-four hours after placing my order, Lookmatic was finished with my glasses and they were shipped out the next day. I received my Bel Airs in the mail a few days later–the shipping was insanely fast! Unfortunately, they swapped my lenses’ prescriptions. I figured this out after a headache after wearing them for five minutes. At first I thought it was me adjusting to the new lenses, but then I took a look at the thickness of the lenses. My left eye is much stronger than my right, and I double-checked this with my current frames, this means the left lens is supposed to be thicker. The right lens in my Bel Airs was thicker, so I immediately contacted them and they were super nice about remaking the lenses for me. However, I wanted to at least wear them long enough to get some photos with them on. Took a few days to happen, but here they are!
They are absolutely GORGEOUS. The crystal frame is so pretty. I always worry that my strong prescription will ruin pretty frames, and I think that happened in this case. The thick white border of the frames was pretty prominent against the Citrus, which was more or less in the same color family as my skintone. If my eyes look eerily small here, it’s because I’m trying really hard to focus on one thing.
So unfortunately these didn’t work out for me. No worries, I have my Warby Parker Preston Bellinis to look forward to. I wonder what these would look like as sunglasses, but I don’t wonder that more than I feel anxious to try their other frames! I’ve been in talks with their Customer Service, and they said that they expect to have the Shelby back in stock by later this week. Now the question is… what color should I get them in?! Black Tortoise, Tortoise, or Brown Fade? And if those don’t work out, well then it’s on to the Tippi! One thing at a time, Mayette.
