Three weeks ago the boyf and I reached the one year mark. As part of my anniversary present for him, I surprised him with a weekend getaway to Monterey. I’ve always wanted to visit Cannery Row, and I was lucky enough to catch a Bloomspot deal for a nice luxury hotel for cheapy peasys!
The original plan was to hang out with some animals at the aquarium but we decided to plan another full day to come back and dedicate to just the aquarium. Half a day isn’t enough to see all of the animals, me thinks.
We spent the first half of our day exploring and walking around Cannery Row. That area is booming with so much history, it’s cray. We visited the coastal beaches and sat on big rocks to take in all of the Monterey goodness. The second half was spent getting ready in our super luxurious room at the Monterey Plaza Hotel & Spa and having a bombass dinner at Chart House. It was a very romantic atmosphere, so romantic, that it was almost impossible to take photos with our phones. Ian managed to snap these:
Me, channeling Tard and our customized menus.
It was a delicious dinner. We both had the Filet Mignon because why not, right?
Obviously not as fancy as my date. Look at him!
We went through a lot of hilariously bad shots to get these. To give you an idea of the lighting we were dealing with and the different areas of the hotel we tried out:
By the way, this is more or less the mess I leave behind after getting ready:
And last but not least, a delicious cinnamon roll we had before leaving:
Okay just kidding. Even more last, the new apple of my eye: Ian’s present to me. The Michael Kors Rose Gold Chronograph Watch. Drool. I can’t stop wearing it. It goes with everything!
