Not Safe For May

I have pretty much ditched pencil eyeliners ever since I discovered its gel cousin. For me, gel liner is much easier to control (using the right brush), doesn’t smudge, and lasts a lot longer. I have been pretty faithful to my MAC Fluidline in Blacktrack, so I was nervous to compare anything to it. Addiction NV does make their Line Up Stay-Put Gel Eyeliner in black (Emo), but since they make basic black uber-fabulous with other shades like Scene (Black with Gold Glitter) and Jail Bait (Black with Purple Glitter), I decided to go for one of the fancy glitter ones! The liner also comes in 12 other fierce shades: Cougar (Medium Brown), Starstruck (Silver), Trendy (Forest Green), Chaos (Turquoise), Hell On Heels (Electric Blue), Little Betty (Iridescent Purple), Hard to Get (Eggplant Purple), Trouble Maker (Bright Purple), Daddy’s Girl (Dark Brown), Gold Digger (Gold), and Red Handed (Red).

I decided on Scene & Gold Digger–I thought the two would pair well individually and together.

These gel liners are fab! They aren’t as dry as my Blacktrack, which I surprisingly like. This makes application a LOT smoother, and I don’t have to use so many layers to fill in patches like I usually do with Blacktrack. They definitely are smudge-proof, too. I wore them in 80-degree weather for at least 5 hours, with no primer, and they didn’t budge!

Scene is a Black with Gold Glitter. And boy, do they mean gold glitter. The glitter is so jam-packed that the liner almost looks olive in the pot. I see smaller flecks of red and green in it too, when I move the pot around in different light. I can’t ever say no to glitter, you know that. This color is so pretty, especially when the sun catches the sparkle!

Gold Digger is supposed to be Gold, but I would describe it as more Copper. Very penny-like and pretty. Like, newly minted penny, not whatever’s in your wallet penny. The shimmer factor here does not disappoint. I found this pot to be a lot creamier than Scene, hence the stab marks from me not knowing that at first, but I didn’t experience any problems with application because of the creaminess.

Here it is next to Blacktrack:

Blacktrack comes in a larger pot, but the actual product itself is only 0.1 oz. You get a little more product with the Addiction liners; they may come in smaller-looking pots, but you’re getting 0.02 oz more for the same price. The smaller pot makes storage easier, too.

These liners have great pigmentation. You can really see the gold glitter in Scene in the photo with flash on the left. Check out the disbursement of glitter–even and consistent! If I’m going to go for glitter, I want to do it right. No irregular, spasmodic pattern here.

Still though, my favorite part about them is their longevity factor! They seriously do “Stay Put” and don’t smudge. I have fairly oily lids and need to prime any time I want to wear eye products. With this stuff, I’m totally sold. I don’t typically wear outrageous colors outside of the neutral family on my eyes, but this glitter-infused Black is the perfect “night out” liner for me. With how much bang you’re getting for your buck, and so many pretty colors, how can you not go crazy and want them all?!

Here’s a quick and easy EOTD look using just the liners and mascara (Big ‘N Black, of course). I used Scene on my upper lashline, thickening the stroke outward, and winged it out. Then I swiped some Gold Digger along the bottom outer half lashline and finished with a thinner, longer wing to cup the Scene wing and help brighten and lift the eye. Their Shadow/Point Dual Brush was great for this.

Great liners! I don’t think I’ve ever worn a gel liner (maybe by a makeup artist?), but I always have such a hard time getting a clean line with those hard pencils.

Oh, you should definitely DEFINITELY try them out! They changed my life!!! I’m even experimenting with gel liner on my waterline now… I may not need pencils anymore. 🙂
