Not Safe For May

It’s hot! I have thick hair and in hot weather, it just gets gross and uncomfortable. I’ve been growing tired of my ombre, too. So a couple of weeks ago I decided to chop it all off for a LOB (long bob). I also asked for some dimension, color-wise, and we decided to go with a partial balayage. I love how it turned out!

I showed my stylist these photos of Alexa Chung, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Ellie Kemper from season nine of The Office, and obvs asked for him to tweak it and make it suitable for my face shape.

The LOB: Alexa Chung, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Ellie Kemper

My new LOB
It’s so freeing to have short hair again. My showers are shorter and I use less hair product, although I’m still getting the hang of styling it (I already burned myself with my curling iron). I’ve already fallen in love with Bumble & Bumble’s Surf line. Sea salt sprays never worked on my long hair, but the Surf Spray works wonders on my new, shorter hair! I plan on repurchasing the Shampoo, Conditioner, and Surf Spray in full sizes.

On days when I don’t use my curling iron, I’ll spray Surf Spray in my hair after getting out of the shower and put it up in a bun after about an hour. When I take it down later in the day, I get nice beachy waves an Asian girl dreams of!

My new LOB
A quick FOTD with Meow Cosmetics foundation + Stila In The Light Eye Shadow Palette. Nothing on my lips because I always forget to put something on them:

I love my LOB! Do you go shorter for the summer?

I adore your hair! The cut looks really amazing on you and I love how you’ve styled it. I love having long hair, but once every few years decide that short hair is the way to go, and cut it to a pixie. Then I hate the pixie, and spend the next two years trying to get my hair back to a long length. Hopefully I’ve “pixied” for the last time…

Thank you, Natalie! If only I had your hair color. 😉
I don’t think I’ve ever had the guts to go for a pixie cut–kudos to you!

I started first by getting a bob, and then decided that a pixie would just be the cutest! It was nice, but I found it so much more work than long hair. I mean, you have to style it every single day. And if you go to bed with wet hair, oh man. It’s a nightmare. My hair is now just a bit shorter than yours, I’m so excited to have it long!

I LOVE it!!! And this is the first post I’ve found where someone had LONG hair before they cut it into a lob. It’s so encouraging! The amount of bloggers that use the title ‘I chopped it off’ and I’m sitting here thinking, “No, you cut off a couple of inches, do you see how much hair I have to part with to get a lob?!!!” Any tips gathering that amount of courage? I’m so ready, my hair weighs so much, I have more than enough to donate *mega feel good bonus* but I just can’t seem to make that final push to chop it. I feel like I’m betraying my butt length hair by chopping it off. Your’s looks so chic and beautiful though!

hahaha thank you, Becka! Tip-wise, I always tell myself that it’s just hair, and that it WILL grow back. You should do it! It feels great–so freeing. I know what you mean about heavy hair. Ugh.
