Not Safe For May

I remember the first time I tried on contact lenses. It was an awful experience, trying to touch my eyeballs for that long of a time. It was frustrating and I’m pretty sure I cried because I couldn’t get the lenses in no matter how hard I tried. My mom was downstairs letting me “figure it out on my own” because she said that was the only way I was going to learn. These days, I can pop contacts in and out like they’re nothing. I guess that excruciating couple of hours did me well!

I wear contact lenses a lot. Once in a while my lenses will dry out or get smudged with make up. I have to either take them out to clean them, or deal with the discomfort until I get home. Other times I’m out of town for a few hours and driving home late at night, when my contacts are on their last leg of the day. I will usually bring my glasses and my gaudy Clear Care contact lens case + solution when I know I’m going to need to remove my lenses before the trip home. Believe it or not, but the lens case + solution take up a lot of room in my purse, so I usually bring a miscellaneous bag to carry it all.

Enter: The chic Henri Bendel West 57th Contact Lens Case. I spotted this baby at my first visit to a Henri Bendel store. I left it on the shelf trying not to think about it while I perused the rest of the mall, but I knew I was going to be picking it up before I left.

This is probably the classiest thing I own right now. The black saffiano leather is LIKE BUTTER. The gold hardware against it? Absolutely gorgeous. Based on looks alone, this thing is to-die-for cute. I almost grabbed this in a metallic gold, but decided that the black was more classic and would last a long time. The case is 3″ x 3″, so don’t tell me there’s no room in your purse for this. I sometimes even forget that it’s in my black-lining purses until I catch a glimmer of the gold nameplate! Look at the details on this zipper:

GUH. So luxurious, am I right?! It’s part of the West 57th collection, which features handbags, wallets, tech cases, and other travel accessories.

The tiny case zips open to reveal an interior mirror, bungee for a small bottle of solution, and a pocket that holds a standard contact lens case.

The solution bottle and lens case themselves aren’t anything special and are comparable to what you can find at the drugstore. The twist-cap solution bottle is a good size and easy enough to refill. What I really love about this case is how compact it is, and more importantly, how adorable it is! It’s a new staple in my purse. I love not having to think about whether or not I need to bring a miscellaneous bag to carry my regular case and solution. It’s perfect for emergencies!

Here it is next to my iPhone 5s, for scale:

The case is well-made and sturdy, and the zipper doesn’t catch at all. I feel like this case will last me a long time because of the quality of the leather and the craftsmanship. The case also comes in other adorable colors as well as prints! It’s only $38, which I think is a pretty good deal for a designer accessory that I consider part of my every day essentials.

You can find the West 57th Contact Lens Case for $38 in stores and online at henribendel.com.

*This product was purchased with my own money because I really, really wanted it.*
