There are a few things I would like to talk about in this post: 1. I have purple hair now. All of it started off as dark purple (see Instagram) and now it’s fading into this orchid ombre. It’s been about 2 months since my last salon visit (hence the roots) so I actually need to decide what’s next before next month’s appointment: more purple, lighter, ecaille? 2. After months of searching, I found the perfect faux leather moto jacket with gold hardware. I actually found an equally perfect real leather one shortly afterwards, but that’s another post for a different day. I’m actually considering getting rid of this one now. 3. I cleaned out my closet like you wouldn’t believe. I have a new vision for what I want it to look like, and this new dress/jacket combo is part of it. Neutral, classic, and versatile. 4. My boyfriend got me a beautiful 50mm lens for Valentine’s Day so we played with it over the weekend!
Out of nowhere this morning I had a hankering for a quilted vest. I cannot explain it, and I won’t try to, so here are the three best options I found. White would be ideal, but with my purple hair, I better go for navy or classic black. The J. Crew vest comes in a “light amethyst” that is to die for. I found a few other options, but I’ve got my eye on an Old Navy one. I’m having dreams of layered button-ups, sweaters, and statement necklaces underneath a warm, cozy vest. Of course, all of these babies have gold hardware. I wouldn’t want them if they didn’t.
I love any excuse to dress up. Today, my BFF Trina and I finally won the office costume contest after almost three years of trying. This year our costume was based on an office inside joke, but I wanted to share our pride and joy with you. Here are some previous costumes of ours too, so you’ll know just how many things a tall redhead and a short asian girl can be together:
Happy #AltuzarraforTarget eve! Here are my favorites from the fall 2014 Altuzarra x Target collaboration. Lots of slinky, sexy numbers here. I’m keeping in mind that this fall/winter, I have a wedding and a holiday party to attend. I’m hoping to nab something for one (if not both) occasions.
I hope you’re ready for this. I found a lot of good staples last month that have made their way into my daily rotation.
1. 100% Pure Mint White Tea Tonique – I originally purchased this toner to use as a makeup setting spray, but I’ve also been using it during my daily/nightly cleansing routine. When my skin needs a little more hydration, I mist all over and let the toner sink in. Otherwise, I usually mist all over and wipe it up with a cotton ball. This toner smells wonderful, and keeps my skin feeling taught. It sets my makeup nicely and keeps it from looking cakey.
2. Kjaer Weis Creme Blush in Suntouched – I received this sample at Veer & Wander, a salon and apothecary in the SoMa area of San Francisco. The rep there said it was the perfect natural color for my skintone, and after using it almost every day, I totally believe her! It’s a beautiful, youthful coral that brightens the complexion. It’s very pigmented, so a little goes a long way. I think I’ll purchase a refill of this once I’m finished with my sample.
